Preparing for RealmsCon

Posted by Heather on Mon, 31 Aug o 08:50:52 -0500

You know that a big thing is in the works when it gets mentioned a whole month and 2 days ahead of when it actually is happening.

This year's RealmsCon (in Corpus Christi, TX) is shaping up to be a pretty exciting thing and we here at Dragonmun Studios have been working our butts off in collaboration with Concept Galaxy to assist in it's greatness. We're not allowed to provide any details as of yet, but can state that all of this preemptive work means that great things are on their way.

In addition to the stuff that cannot be named, we will be having an artist alley table, in which we will be selling comics, prints, buttons, and patches (which are currently not available in the online store)!

We look forward to see you all there!

Anime Festival Orlando =/= This Weekend!

Posted by Heather on Sun, 26 Jul o 11:33:26 -0500

We're still recovering from the convention, but have quite a bit to post about. shooting to update everything on Monday.

Original Post:

We've got quite a bit going on with AFO this year, and we're pretty excited about it.

The first big thing is the story.

This will be the third and last year of the "Swords of Orlandia" theme and I guess as a sort of send-off bonus, the story is now an anthology and will be published in a separate book from the convention guide and distributed at the show itself. One of the stories is done by our very own Heather Scott and can be read online here, while the rest of the Swords of Orlandia online story can be found here (you might actually want to read this first).

The book itself is very much worth picking up because it contains the complete Swords of Orlandia saga, which is full of some awesome and unusual characters that hundreds of con-goers have sworn allegiance to in the years past.

Now... the story isn't over yet!

The story will actually come to fruition AT THE SHOW and there are some really cool ways that you can be a part of it. Much like in the two years past, the convention is running a game throughout the weekend and the outcome of the game will effect the outcome of the story.. The details of this can be found by clicking here.

As another way to help support this theme, Heather will be stilt-walking for the opening ceremonies and then will serve as the opening DJ  at the rave on Saturday. Huzzah!

Another fun thing to look forward to is the charity event, which might just be the coolest charity event in the history of charity events!

"Whack-A-Nerd for Charity" is exactly what it sounds like. You pay a dollar, and you get to whack one of the designated convention nerds with a foam weapon for 30 seconds. How can you beat that!

Dragonmun Studios will have the usual table in artist alley - where we will be selling comics and merchandise in addition to chit-chatting till we're blue in the face. come on by!

That was weird...

Posted by Heather on Mon, 06 Jul o 11:10:53 -0500

So apparently over the weekend I had exceeded my unlimited bandwidth limit, and it spontaneously deleted the user database of my content management script... which is responsible for the news update on pretty much everything Dragonmun Studios related.

Central Florida Conventions...

Posted by Heather on Tue, 26 May o 12:08:17 -0500

We here at Dragonmun Studios want to thank all of you who stopped by our table at JACON this last weekend. Your patronage is very much appreciated. We are trying to update the site with reports of all of the awesome things that we experienced, but it's taking a while since there is a lot to cover.

For those of you who wanted to know what the next show we are going to is, we respond with Anime Festival Orlando. There's a lot of neat things planned for that show, but you'll miss a good chunk of it if you don't at least look at the Orlandia events. Be sure to check them out!

Convention Updates

Posted by Heather on Mon, 16 Feb o 12:34:22 -0600

It would appear that we at Dragonmun Studios have decided that we were going to cram-pack our year with conventions again, despite previous descisions to "take a break".

We're going to be kicking this off with MegaCon, where both Heather and Sarah (Spazz) will be helping with Panels and the like. After that we'll be hitting up JACON to see it off in it's final year.

We could pack this post with all of the events we have listed, but that's what we have the list located below (and to the left) for! :B

New Year Changes

Posted by Heather on Tue, 06 Jan o 10:17:10 -0600

Although the party was nowhere near as big as those that some of you may have attended as the years rolled out of 2008 and into 2009, We here at Dragonmun Studios have been celebrating in our own little way.

As usual, this means UPDATES!

The biggest update is actually to one of our comics: Sivoa, which got a complete overhaul of the website so that we could provide more to you, our readers!

The second biggest update is located on the lovely and overpopulated MySpace servers, where the Dragonmun MySpace page, has been taken over by not just one, but the entire staff of Dragonmun Studios (whose biographies will be posted as soon as they send in their pictures BUWAHAHA!!!)

There are many more updates in the works and we would love to tell you what those are, but that would spoil things and nobody likes spoilers.

Server Crashed?

Posted by Heather on Mon, 17 Nov o 09:24:01 -0600

At some point in the evening on November 14th, there was apparently a sort of server crash. It was not a major one, but if did reset the Dragonmun websites back to where they were a month ago.

This isn't a major problem, but a number of news items and image uploads have pretty much disappeared and need to be restored. We are pleased to say that the comics, on the other hand, are still up to date.

News posts, reviews, and images should all be restored by the end of the day. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

August is getting away!

Posted by Heather on Mon, 25 Aug o 02:57:48 -0500

Sometimes it seems like conventions season never ends... and sometimes the end is so close you darn near have a heart attack. Well, thankfully we're not at the later point in the year and have begun preparations for RealmsCon.

There we will be doing a number of things in conjunction with our affiliates, Concept Galaxy. As per normal we will have a table set up as a venue for those of you attending to pick up comics and the like, but there may be a couple of surprises there as well.

Be sure to check it out.

On a related note - reviews for Anime Festival Orlando and YasumiCon are now online and can be found here.

Dragonmun July Update

Posted by Heather on Wed, 16 Jul o 06:33:09 -0500

It's strange how much time flies.

The Library mini event and PersaCon came and went by so fast that there was hardly any time to document them properly. And now no one, not two, but three conventions are right around the corner and we're just hopping behind the scenes here at Dragonmun Studios.

The most immeadiate bit of news is that we will be attending the audition event for Anime x Gamer Experience on July 26th in order to help out our affiliates, Concept Galaxy, with some of the staff stuff. We know that some of you in North Florida wanted to have a chance to speak with us one-to-one, this would be a good chance to do so.

YasumiCon. YasumiCon? YASUMICON!

The next bit of awesome news is that Heather will be assisting Damon with the Call of the Wylde dance event on Saturday night of Anime Festival Orlando. Since dancers/ravers are known for trying to shout requests out over the music (yeah we do it too), we'll save your voices by giving you a place to post your requests ahead of time.

And finally, to our fans in Texas. We're coming to visit! In another first for Dragonmun Studios, we will be vending at RealmsCon in Corpus Christi! We can't wait to see you guys!

Futurefocus

Posted by Heather on Wed, 12 Mar o 02:59:34 -0500

Wow, there is a lot to talk about, but so little allowance to do so. Rather than focus on the inability to talk about ~secret~ stuff, however, we'll focus on the all the awesome new information that we unveiled at MegaCon.

Sivoa - The Webcomic?

Some of you may have noticed the increased height of activity going on with Sivoa since we have begun posting up new pages on a weekly basis. The decision behind this was to reach out and help out fans and friends in all the different states that our sporadic convention schedule may prevent us from seeing.

For those of you that have been collecting the single issues, worry not! We are still releasing the printed comics (which are significantly further along than the web comic).

Sivoa - The Contest?

Dragonmun Studios is one issue away from consolidating the Sivoa story into it's first graphic novel and to celebrate we figured that we would give the vast artistic community on the internet a chance to be a part of this!

We are holding an art contest to feature artworks inspired by Sivoa. All entries will be posted in a special gallery on the website, but only the top ten entries will be fully featured in the book itself.

More details to the contest can be found here.

Call For Samurai Mushroom Stuff!

We here are Dragonmun Studios have sadly decided close the Samurai Mushroom web comic project on a permanent basis. In a very large part this is because we no longer can access the web account that everything is stored on, but also because we feel that it should finally be put into book form.

Because of various moves and reformats, some of the really  weird extra content that we have posted with the comic at one time or another has disappeared. We are having an open call for this missing content and are willing to offer small rewards for those that provide it.

To see the stuff that we do have, click here. Please send all emails regarding this to Heather.

We've lots of great stuff planned for this year and to kick it off we're heading down to Librar-ations II for some fund-raising charity fun!

Librar-ations is sponsored by the Broward County Library and thus is located in the counties Main Library... which is awesome! Ever dream of having an anime convention take over those quiet places where you read your manga. Yeah. This is totally what that is.

JaniCon Surprise and a Thank You

Posted by Heather on Sat, 06 Oct o 05:48:57 -0500

The submissions and holding for ad space for this next print run of Sivoa is closed and payment (if you haven't already sent it in) is past due.

I just wanted to say thank you guys for your support. This run should be ready by JaniCon, which has been one adventure after another for me (even though the con itself hasn't actually started yet.)

As it turns out I'll be adding another event to my panels and costumed things there... and that's the rave.

I know, me going to the rave isn't a big deal, but that's not what I'm talking about. This time I'm actually DJing the thing.
O_O

I's got me terrified and excited all at the same time. I feel like I did when I was confronted with a roller coaster the first time.

I can't friggin wait.
^.^

Photos for Anime Festival Orlando 2007 are up and ready for viewing! Those can be found here. Dragonmun's convention story for the event is also up and can be found by clicking on this link.

On a different note, Dragonmun needs to beef up her comic portfolio thing by including more depictions of people interacting... somehow.

Because she's looking for suggestions and plans on using these things for her portfolio, these interaction commissions will be discounted to two characters for the price of one!

Prices for commissions can be found here: [link]

To request a commission you may either use the form located there, or send an email to heather@dragonmun.com.

Site Updates, PresaCon, and Florida Supercon

Posted by Heather on Wed, 27 Jun o 02:16:32 -0500

In case it hasn't been noticed, a gallery has been made for PersaCon and can be found here. The gallery for Florida Supercon is still being organized, but should be up within the week.

The convention reviews have been changed to be "convention stories" as  they are more opinionated than reviews ought to be. These have been sorted into the "Convention Information" section of the staff links. By doing this, we allow for all of the staffers to express their thoughts on the shows that they attend.

The entertainment section of the website has been updated to include another online community that Dragonmun Studios had helped to build. This would be the V.I.L.E Headquarters online community dedicated to Carmen Sandiego. If you have not already done so, check it out! There's a lot of neat nostalgia there.
